Ocean Blue Smoothie Bowl {gf,v}

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

Growing up, I thought strawberry banana smoothies were practically the only ones to exist. Now, I'm pretty much a strictly green/blue smoothie girl. I love growing greens and superfoods into my smoothies to boost my day and have a nutrient dense meal. This smoothie is one of those, and it includes two superfood powders: spirulina and pitaya. It also features frozen banana and avocado fro a creamy texture, spinach for greens, almond butter, mango, and dates for sweetness, and seeds for fiber and antioxidants. I love starting my day with this smoothie because not only does it taste good and look aesthetically pleasing, it's so good for you! Due to the almond butter and avocado, it makes for a filling meal that will keep you full for hours. All you've gotta do is throw on your favorite toppings, and you're good to go!

RECIPE

Prep time: 5 minutes

Serving size: 1

INGREDIENTS

1/2 frozen banana

Handful frozen mango

1tsp spirulina powder

1tsp pitaya powder

1 dates

1/4 avocado

Handful baby spinach

1tbs hemp seeds

1tbs flaxseed meal

1/2tbs salt free almond butter {I use Georgia Grinders. promo code: wellnesswithmak for 20% off}

Coconut water

METHOD

1. Blend all ingredients {add in coconut water in small amounts as you feel, scrape sides, and add more if needed}. You want it super thick.

2. Add granola to the base of your bowl, pour the smoothie on top, and top with your favorite toppings. {I like homemade granola, coconut flakes, banana, mango, frozen blueberries, raw honey, and cinnamon}
