Hella Good Greens Smoothie {v,gf}

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

Let me just start off by saying, this smoothie is hella good. Lol, okay I'll stop now. Anyway, this smoothie bowl came about after I travelled to the Big Apple and got two smoothie bowls, one for breakfast and one for dinner. Sounds like a perfect day, right? It was. Well, long story short, I loved both and wanted to create my own smoothie that mixed the two together. This smoothie is loaded with greens and superfoods, and also features my favorite superfood of all time: spirulina. For those that do not know, spirulina is what gives smoothies that pretty blue/green color; spirulina is a nutrient-dense food that grows in fresh and salt water, and it is packed full of vitamins, such as vitamins A, C, E and B vitamins, and calcium. I love this smoothie for it's taste and benefits, along with how creamy it is from the avocado. I look topping mine with my favorite goods and turning it into a smoothie bowl!

Prep time: 3 minutes

Serving size: 1

1/2 frozen banana

1c spinach

1/4 avocado

1tsp maca powder

3 almonds

2tsp spirulina powder

1/2tbs hemp seeds

A few dashes of cinnamon

3/4c unsweetened almond milk {I use Trader Joe's Almond Beverage}

1. Blend all ingredients in a blender on high until thick and creamy.

2. Transfer to serving glass.

3. Add toppings if desired {I used sliced banana, frozen blueberries, homemade granola, coconut flakes, & a raw honey drizzle}
