Crispy Vegan Airfryer Cheez Fries {gf,v}

Let me tell you, I've been dreaming about this recipe for so long. I grew up loving cheese fries from the snack shack at our town baseball field, and every once in a while, I actually still crave them! However, I love recreating my childhood faves, but by making it more nutritious. So, these cheez fries swap out the cheese, breading, butter, oil, and fried aspect of cheese fries. Instead, this recipe includes nutritional yeast and tahini for the cheez flavor. Unlike the typical fry, these are not fried with tons and tons of oil. I use my all time favorite kitchen appliance: my air fryer. If you don't have an airfryer yet, you're seriously missing out! They make these fries extra crispy. These homemade fries are perfect for an appetizer with friends or a side at dinner. Lastly, this recipe is vegan and gluten free!



Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Serving size: 4



2 potatoes

1tbs nutritional yeast

1/2tsp garlic powder

pink salt, red pepper flakes, + black pepper to taste

Vegan Cheez:

1tbs tahini

2tbs nutritional yeast

1/2tsp garlic powder

1/8tsp onion powder

1tsp water +1tbs unsweetened almond milk

sprinkle of cayenne, pink salt, black pepper


1. Preheat airfryer to 400 F.

2. Peel potatoes, chop into fry slices, and rinse {the thinner, the crispier they get}.

3. Transfer the potatoes to a large bowl, and add nutritional yeast and seasonings.

4. Air fry for 10 minutes at 400 F.

5. While those airfry, make the vegan cheez sauce.

6. In a small bowl, add all vegan cheez ingredients.

7. Mix until smooth. {add more water or a little olive oil if too thick}

8. Once the fries are crispy, transfer to a bowl and add the vegan cheez drizzle, or use for dipping!
