You heard that right; not only is this dessert hummus, but chocolate pumpkin spice! What more could one ask for? But seriously, this recipe is bomb. I have an intense sweet tooth, and this is perfect for that. Same as any other hummus, the main ingredient for the base is chickpeas, along with light sweeteners, such as dates and pure maple syrup. I love pairing this with my favorite gluten free pretzels or slapping it right on a brown rice cake. The possibilities are truly endless! This hummus is gluten free and vegan, so all can enjoy.
RECIPE
Prep time: 10 minutes
Blend time: 2 minutes
Serving size: 8
INGREDIENTS
1 can no salt chickpeas 1/4c unsweetened cacao powder 8-10 dates 2tbs pure maple syrup 2tbs pumpkin purée
1/2tbs pumpkin pie spice
Pinch of pink salt
METHOD
1. Rinse and drain chickpeas, and soak dates in warm water for 10 minutes.
2. Add all ingredients to the food processor, except cacao powder and blend. Stop every few seconds to scrape the sides, and repeat until smooth.
3. Fold in cacao powder and pulse. Scrape the sides and pulse again until well combined.
4. Remove from food processor and enjoy! Store in air tight container in fridge.
