Caramel Apple Smoothie {v, gf}

Smoothies are my favorite summer drink, but I truly love them all year round. Something so fun about smoothies is that the possibilities are endless; you can pretty much throw anything into a smoothie. Somedays I'm feeling a green smoothie, others a chocolate peanut butter smoothie. This smoothie recipe is truly the best of both worlds. It's loaded with greens, but perfectly sweet, especially with the cinnamon and dates addition. I love using dates, as I did in this recipe, to add a naturally sweet taste to my creations. I call this smoothie the 'caramel apple smoothie' because of the maca powder. For those that are unaware of the taste of maca powder, it tends to mimic a caramel or malt-like flavor. This superfood powder, paired with the sweetness of the apple makes for the perfect smoothie.



Prep time: 3 minutes


1/2 apple ⁣⁣⁣ 1/2 frozen banana ⁣⁣⁣ 1tbs maca powder⁣⁣⁣ 1/2 tbs almond butter ⁣⁣⁣ 2 handfuls spinach ⁣⁣⁣ 1tsp hemp seeds⁣⁣⁣ 1-2 dates⁣⁣ a few dashes of cinnamon & apple pie spice⁣⁣⁣ 1/2c almond milk


1. Blend all ingredients and serve! Add toppings if desired {I used sliced banana, hemp seeds, granola, and coconut flakes}
